Battlestar Galactica is one of the most talked about and top downloaded TV shows. Find out why with the Mini-Series, Season 1 and 2.0, available now on DVD.
Show Status: Season 3 in production Year of Last release: 2006 Country of Production: US Original Network: SkyOne-UK/SciFi-US Total No. of Episodes: Mini-Series - 2 2 hour episodes (4 hours) Season 1 - 13 episodes Season 2.0 - 10 episodes The space-opera continues to astound audiences just tuning in and re-discovering it on DVD - making it a timeless series. For those concerned with it being too Sci-Fi with heaps of Trek-like techno-babble can be rest assured, it's not that kind of a show. In fact, Ronald D Moore, Executive Producer and the person responsible for re-imagining the series, often refers to it as a Space Opera. And there is a clip on the Internet somewhere with Grace Park (who plays Sharon "Boomer" Valerii) saying " ... it's the most real show about people ... set in space." Think West-Wing in space ... and that should give you an idea. Should you want to get in on the bandwagon, I suggest you start right from the beginning: The Mini-Series. The Mini-Series - thankfully - is included with the Season 1 boxed set of the series. Apart from the program with full commentaries from Executive Producers/writer Ronald D Moore and David Eick, there are 8 Behind the Scenes featurettes, deleted scenes and "BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE SERIES LOWDOWN" where they talk to the creators and cast members. The Season 2.0 release contains the first 10 episodes of season released when the crew took a summer break. It contains podcast commentaries for each episode with Ronald D Moore and deleted scenes plus a sneek peak at the second half of the season. Owners of a High Definition Television may be interested to know that the series is shot on HD giving the series its gritty documentary like feel and looks beautiful on its wide-screen format.
