Fast Food NationDo you care where your burger came from? You should.Based on the best selling book, the film adaptation of FAST FOOD NATION has its heart in the right place and possible also in your next burger.
In the same vein of THANK YOU FOR SMOKING based on the best selling book by Eric Schlosser of the same name FAST FOOD NATION follows the motives of characters played by Greg Kinnear, Patricia Arquette, Ethan Hawke, Bruce Willis, Kris Kristofferson and Avril Lavigne in their role in the success of big corporation. Initially starting out as an investigative report for Rolling Stone, author Schlosser felt there was so much more of the story that needed to be told, hence the book. Writer/ Director Richard Linklater approached Producer Jeremy Thomas with the idea of adapting the book thinking that the themes presented would make a good film. Participant Productions, a production company that believes in the power of the media to create social change, soon became involved. The result is a film that paints the all too bleak reality of what really goes on before burgers hit the grill of fast food chains across America. And while it really hits you over the head with its message of the never ending downward cycle of big corporation vs the exploited and the great divide of priorities between economic classes, these are the points which make the film important. It's not a very well made film, but its heart is in the right place. Special Features: Audio Commentary with Writer/ Director Richard Linklater and Fast Food Nation author Eric Schlosser. 'The Manufacturing of Fast Food Nation' A very extensive one hour presentation on the making of the feature film and how they made every effort to capture the reality of the life within the story. Case in point: They filmed right on the kill floor and actually shot the slaughtering of cows right inside the meat plant. It'sinteresting to see the actors' reactions to the environment they filmed in. 'The MEATRIX' 3 animated spoof shorts of the MATRIX to create better awareness of how meat is processed. 'The Backwards Hambuger' Animated short in how your burger gets to you.
