The popular children's series that was shot in Toronto finds its way onto DVD with its Second Season being released today. (Sept 5/06)
Apart from its 23 episodes which include separate Travelling Matt segments where Gobo's uncle sends him postcards of his experiences exploring "Outer Space", Special Features include Season Two Overview and a heartfelt tribute to the creative genius Jerry Juhl and exclusive interviews with writers and puppeteers.
Featurette "Docs and Sprocket" is very much focused on how they packaged the show differently for the UK, German and French markets. Fraggle Rock's main theme was about living in harmony with different cultures, so each market had their own different version of Doc and Sprockets. My heart melted when they included the opening theme song in french.
Perhaps the most interesting among the special features is a recently discovered home video of Puppeteer Steve Whitmire's (Sprocket) of a day in the recording studio of the singing talent doing a Doozer song.
Also included is the "All Around the World" music video which is very much a collection of Travelling Matt vignettes as it was his theme song and a replica of the original pitch book for the genesis of Fraggle Rock.
