Read how Fred gets hungry watching food on a 56" projection HDTV. Be warned, "Objects on screen may be smaller than they appear."
Here's another re-release that I tested out on a 56" projection HDTV by JVC, playing the normal DVD through an HDMI cable with a progressive scan player. While not remembered as a visual film, Fried Green Tomatoes has plenty of elements that look fabulous when blown up big.
The southern colors provide a great pallet for the HDTV. Greens in the grass and trees contrast with a cut to red clay dirt. Rosy made up ladies with flower patterned dresses and strawberry blonde hair are lush.
But what benefits the most from HDTV is the food. Raspberry and blueberry pies are so deeply crimson and navy blue respectively that you almost want to stick a spoon through your screen (don't do that though. It's fake and the TV is worth too much.) Chocolate, frosting and even frying grease just look so delicious it makes you hungry to watch.
