Imagine Me & You: DVD Review

Brit Rom-Com with a twist

© Christine Miguel

Piper Perabo delights us in the British Rom-com that shouldn't be compared to Brokeback Mountain.

  • World Premiere: Toronto International Film Festival, Sept 9, 2005
  • Country of Production: UK
  • Year of Release: 2006
  • Distribution: 20th Century Fox
  • No. of Discs: Double-Sided Single
  • Language: English
  • Subtitles: English. Spanish
  • The light - yet incredibly human romantic-comedy by writer and first-time director Ol Parker is the kind of fluff, fluff should aspire to. That is, of course, if fluff had any aspirations at all. *cue crickets in the dark*

Rachel (Perabo) becomes magnetically drawn to an unexpected guest at her wedding that sends her in a whirlwind of emotions - because the person she's finds herself drawn to is a smart sexy woman.

Available on both letterbox and widescreen editions, the DVD release of Imagine Me & You includes commentary by director/writer Ol Parker, a Q & A with cast members Piper Perabo, Lena Headey & Matthew Goode plus deleted & extended scenes with the director's commentary.

Listening to Parker on the commentary lamenting over his feeble yet not entirely bad directorial debut, gets a wee tiresome. He seems earnest in his ambitions however and rightfully praises his fantastically talented cast and crew, whom as he puts it, "... saved me every day of shooting."

    Bless.
