No words are needed in South Korean Director Kim Ki-Duk's masterpiece 3 IRON.
Words are unnecessary for the main characters in Kim Ki-Duk's near perfect masterpiece 3-IRON. When Tae (played by Hee Jae) breaks into people's homes, the only thing he steals is food and repays his unwitting hosts by fixing items and doing their laundry. In his latest invasion, he finds the home occupied by a battered and abused wife Sun (played by Lee-Seong yeon). What occurs next is part love story, part fantasy as he 'rescues' Sun and they go off ... breaking into other people's homes, doing their laundry and fixing things. But their nomadic paradise is short-lived as the law is hot on their tails. This movie truly shows that ones actions do not necessarily only affect oneself ... meaning, if you do something (good or bad), it doesn't just affect you, but creates a ripple effect affecting countless others. Included on the North American DVD release is a fascinating English subtitled commentary by director Kim Ki-Duk that any filmmaker should listen/ read.
