"You're all the same! You're all a bunch of selfish, filthy, whiny children!" - Maria, Stage Manager
Slings & Arrows as a television series is brilliant. A show written by and for actors, for the love of acting, with a love/hate relationship of theatre. Anyone who is involved with the performing arts should watch it. It's a solid series, with solid performances worthy of its showering acclaim and praise by the critics.
That being said, the DVD release leaves MUCH to be desired.
Apart from the TRAILER, BLOOPER REEL, EXTENDED AND DELETED SCENES, there are no interviews other than texted PRODUCTION NOTES which you have to read through.
I mean, I know Canadian television budgets are fairly tight waisted, but couldn't someone have pointed a camera at an actor and have them just talk about their involvement? For a show that stars such veteran heavy weights as Paul Gross, Mark McKinney and future Hollywood starlet Rachel McAdams, didn't it dawn on someone to archive the moments shared by the talented cast?
But I guess that's theatre and the moment just passed.
