Question your moral flexibility and social responsibility with Jason Reitman's political satire, Thank You For Smoking.
"Dad, what makes America's government, the best government in the world?" "Because of our endless appeals system" The culture of spin takes, twists and bends the truth to satisfy their benefit, and that's why Nick Naylor (played by Aaron Echkhart) is the greatest BS-er for the tobacco industry in Thank You For Smoking. A DC lobbyist for the Academy of Tobacco Studies, Naylor is the most hated man - and this is fine by him because his moral flexibility allows him to filter the truth so much that he's able to sleep well at night. Special features on the DVD include cast and director commentary, deleted scenes plus several extra features; - 'The Charlie Rose Show' - an 18 minute interview with Director/ Screenwriter Jason Reitman, Producer/ former PayPal owner David O Sacks, Author Christopher Buckley and lead actor Aaron Eckhart is a round table discussing both the movie and culture of spin. There is a bit too much of modest flattery going on between Reitman and Buckley. - 'Unfiltered Comedy - The Making of Thank You For Smoking' - is a 9 minute behind the scenes look at the film. - 'America - Living In Spin' - is a 5 minute mini doc on the culture of spin intercutting news footage of the last 2 presidents of the United States in their own spin control. It's available in Wide Screen and Full Screen ... but not both with English Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound.
