Poignant and brilliant, the Devil Wears Prada arrives on DVD just before Christmas. That's all.
Based on the best selling novel of the same name, young Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) lands a job as an assistant to the demanding New York fashion magazine editor Miranda Priestley (Meryl Streep). The job that 'a million girls would die for' just might become the death of her. Special Features: Audio Commentary by Director David Frankel, Producer Wendy Finerman, Costume Designer Patricia Field, Screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, Editor Mark Livolsl and DOP Fliroan Ballhaus Featurettes "The Trip to the Big Screen" - 12 mins on the Making Of - self-explanatory "NYC and Fashion" - 6.5 mins of the importance shooting in NYC and of clothes in the movie and its importance of giving both the fashion and publishing industry its due respect. "Fashion Visionary Patricia Field" - 8.5 mins on a nice profile of the film's costume designer and her experience on working on the film. An interesting thing to note was that they required someone who was able to foresee where fashion was headed so when the film finally release, the style wouldn't have been dated. "Getting Valentino" - 3 mins - the importance of having Valentino do a cameo in the film and how it lend authenticity to the film. "Boss From Hell" - 2.5 mins - Anecdotes from people off the street about experiences with the asinine things their bosses have demanded them to do including: repainting kitchen cabinets before the end of the day and, breaking up with the boss' girlfriend. Deleted and Extended scenes are interesting as you get to see what was cut out of the film and if it shed any new light onto an already perfectly paced story. Among them is an interesting scene during a party where both of Miranda's assistants are present and Andy saves Miranda the embarrassment of forgetting someone's name. The 5 minute Gag Reel is always entertaining to watch as actors as both Stanley Tucci and Meryl Streep's ad-lib takes are a hoot and we learn that Anne Hathaway has trouble walking in heels and Meryl Streep can't throw mink coats onto a desk.
