According to TVshowsOnDVD.com, the YOUNG RIDERS were one of the most requested unreleased television show on the site, something that Sony mentioned in their mailing list to video retailers. So for those who enjoyed the ragtagged riders of the Pony Express, will be delighted to know that the first season is available on DVD.
Set in 1850-ish in Sweetwater, Kansas, the show introduced notable characters in real history as series regulars "Buffalo Bill" Cody (Stephen Baldwin), Jimmy "Wild Bill" Hickock (Josh Brolin) and Jesse James (Christopher Pettiet) who joined the cast in the second season. That said, this isn't a historically accurate television show ... at all. And if you can get past the inacurracies, the show is pure family entertainment.
Presented in its original televised letterbox format, there are 5 discs with 24 episodes ... and that's about it. And for a show that aired 17 years ago, I shouldn't expect too much. I just hope with the remaining releases they give the fans a little something ... extra ... you know?
